Terry Anne Consoli is the designer behind TAC Creative. Her passion for creativity was sparked during her busy New England childhood. Her parents were successful business owners who taught their children that hard work, determination and confidence can move mountains. Terry was inspired by that foundation but also by her grandmother’s influence. Jane was an avid cook and gardener and a talented artist who loved teaching her grandchildren; so Terry naturally learned to work with her hands and developed a great love for the creative process.

Over three decades Terry managed, merchandised and sold in retail shops like Tiffany & Co, J Crew and Terrain in Fairfield County, CT and NY. She honed a keen eye for finding and crafting special pieces with fabulous customer service. At the classic Tiffany & Co she learned to appreciated the fine quality and beauty of the jewelry and home decor they provided. At Terrain, Terry was consistently challenged to help fill the store with beautifully designed displays, learned valuable information about plants and flower design and interacted with a fun and diverse clientele.

Every year at Christmas Terry’s family exchanges Secret Santa gifts after the holiday dinner. Several years ago the theme for the swap was homemade gifts. Of course, in a creative family what then ensued was legendary and hyper competitive. Going through her basement goodies Terry found and brought back to life one of her Grandma Crocker’s fabulous lamps. The lampshade was designed with pressed and dried flowers and butterflies from a favorite NH lake house the family owned in the 1970’s. Despite being a bit faded and having a slightly tarnished base, it was a huge hit with her brother and sister and it was stolen a few times to end up in the right hands. Thus, the idea was born to focus on one-of-a-kind, bespoke lampshades and lamps, just like her grandmother and grandfather had occasionally done decades before. Painted, pierced, adorned with pressed flowers and trimmed with beautiful ribbons and bindings grandma would design shades and combine them with unique and colorful bases that Terry’s grandfather would wire and engineer to work properly. They made one of a kind lamps that illuminated their home and the homes of family and friends. These homes were full of character, using antiques finds, especially pieces that came from an aunt and uncle’s vintage decor shop in Massachusetts and Cape Cod, mixing new and old- making for charming and eclectic places.

Most importantly though, Terry grew up in homes that echoed with laughter and joking and were filled with many stories that created a warm and inviting space where creativity and ambition could flourish.
